Botanical Watercolours for Beginners
Leslie Staple
This introductory course will cover the basic skills needed to capture seasonal flowers through drawing exercises, finishing with watercolour. No prior painting experience is needed. Each student can progress at his or her own level with individual assistance. No materials are needed for the first class. You will receive a materials list on the
first day.

Collage: An Introduction
[PG10W06] Dana Mallany
Collage is a free assemblage of different forms (papers, drawings, photos, etc.) that brings new meaning to these objects. The inventiveness and creativity in collage is often no more than a willingness to experiment. Designed for both the beginner and the experienced artist, this course will concentrate on materials, composition and content.
It will incorporate a number of techniques, with explorations of botanical/garden-related themes if desired. A materials list will be provided before the first class.

Creating Texture in Watercolours:
Weekend Workshop

Students will experiment with a number of watercolour techniques such as brush work, sponge and splatter to create textures in your paintings. All levels welcome. Please bring watercolour supplies and lunch.

Polish the skills you need to create highly realistic form and colour in your botanical paintings with one of Canada’s top botanical artists. Suitable for intermediate and advanced botanical painters. Materials required: the student’s regular painting materials and a couple of different flowers (any type or colour). Please bring lunch.

If You Can See, You Can Draw

Good drawing is the foundation of good painting. Both beginners and advanced students will be individually guided in strengthening their powers of observation while learning new drawing skills and techniques. Instruction will focus on botanical subjects and students may choose to paint as well as draw. A supply list will be sent to all registered participants in advance.

Brushes with Serenity: Spring Blossoms

Discover an ancient art form. Learn the fluid strokes made with bamboo brushes, using ink and watercolour washes on rice paper. These classes will focus on the lovely blossoms of spring. No experience necessary. Materials for sale, if needed, at first session (approximately $30).

Floral Watercolour Workshop
