Botanical Art for Beginners

Learn how to combine technical and botanical accuracy with artistic excellence. Level I provides a solid
foundation in drawing techniques using fruit and/or leaves as models. A step-by-step floral project in coloured pencil is the focus for the second session. Level II continues
with more advanced drawing studies and botanical watercolour paintings.

Introduction to Copperplate Calligraphy
[PG11W08] Cherryl Moote
Copperplate, one of the most beautiful types of calligraphy, was used to identify the botanical specimens on Redouté prints and closely resembles the elegant script used in journals and herbaria in the nineteenth century. This class will introduce the tools and materials used in calligraphy and some simple card
and craft projects using the script. No previous experience necessary. Supply fee of $20 will be charged to cover materials. Please bring this fee, a pencil sharpener and notebook to the first class.
