All products shopTBG are carefully selected for their exceptional quality and environmental benefits. All proceeds from the shop support the Toronto Botanical Garden. Our seeds have arrived as well as the summer bulbs. We also have a new line of Canadian designed products as well as some children's wooden toys. We have brought in some original art works designed specifically for outdoor use. These are paintings by a local Canadian artist.

NEWS

Matthew Wilson's book, New Gardening: How to Garden in a Changing Climate, is now available.

The book first considers how we should garden today and what the new gardening means. Thematic chapters identify the benefits and potential of your site, look at the importance of managing your soil, show why sustainability is important in the garden, show how gardening with wildlife in mind is beneficial for both your garden and biodiversity, looks at plant choice and the horticulture for the world of plants at your disposal (including sections on grass, gardening with little or no water, gardening in shady conditions, gardening in boggy areas or near water), the structural design of your garden and planting design.

Mattew will be speaking at the TBG on as part of the Edwards Lecture series. He will be signing copies of his book at the end of his lecture.

Note cards and bookmarks based on local artist Michael Bowness's original paintings on birch bark, have arrived

Toronto Music Garden: Inspired by Bach
As we mark the 10th anniversary of the Toronto Music Garden, landscape designer and author Julie Moir Messervy has published The Toronto Music Garden: Inspired by Bach in partnership with the City of Toronto and Margaret and Jim Fleck. The garden is the result of a creative collaboration between Ms. Messervy and cellist Yo-Yo Ma to interpret in nature the music of J.S. Bach. With an introduction by Yo-Yo Ma, the new book describes in detail the inspiration, design and building of this remarkable waterfront public garden. Gorgeous colour photographs, sketch renderings and a list of plan materials used in each section of the garden will provide readers with ideas to assist in creating their own gardens.

We also have a few of the Toronto Tree Calendars in stock for anyone that had not had an opportunity to get one earlier. Conveniently formatted as a self-standing desk calendar with photographs and texts by Vincenzo Pietropaolo In honour of Toronto's 175th anniversary as an incorporated City, Toronto's oldest (175 years plus) and largest trees will be featured. The proceeds from sale of the Calendar go directly towards preserving, enhancing and increasing Toronto trees and urban forest.
